Hard-to-fund equipment · UK and Europe

When others say no, talk to Oak.

Unusual assets, stage payments, foreign parents, imports, equipment that crosses borders or goes offshore. The deals other funders turn down are the ones we specialise in structuring.

In short

Why good deals get declined, and how we fix them

Most funders work from approved asset lists and standard documents. If the equipment is unusual, has to be paid for before it is delivered, comes from another country or belongs to a company with a foreign parent, a standard lender often walks away.

We are not a lender. We structure the deal around the obstacle and place it with the right funder from a panel of more than 40 across the UK and Europe. If we can't make it work, we tell you why.

Obstacles we solve

Six reasons deals stall, and what we do about each

Not on the approved list

Football pitches, lidar wind-measurement units, subsea processing equipment. We find the funder who understands the asset.

Paying before delivery

Stage payments during the build, so the supplier is paid as work progresses and the lease starts on delivery. More →

Supplier in another country

Documents that work in both jurisdictions, in the right languages and currency, from the Netherlands to Sweden to Germany.

Foreign parent or new company

Parent company guarantees across borders, so a new subsidiary can borrow on its group's strength. More →

Imports and duties

Equipment from the USA paid for on landing at a UK airport, with customs paperwork checked and duties settled.

A deadline that won't move

A Swedish deal signed and completed in under seven days; a production line moved to Slovakia and funded in seven weeks.

  • North Sea
  • Stage payments · US import

Funders said yes, then got cold feet when they heard the equipment was going underwater. We combined stage payments, varied build times and US imports, and everything went out to sea. Case study →

  • Netherlands → Scotland
  • Stage payments

An artificial pitch for a professional football club: not on most funders' lists, and the club's own bank had already quoted. Our structure won, and the pitch was laid before the season. Case study →

  • UK → Slovakia
  • Relocation

UK equipment funded into a new plant in Slovakia, with cross-border documents, deposits, installation and travel covered. Funded in seven weeks; production started on time. Case study →
