Airport Equipment Leasing and GSE Finance

Airside and Landside, Under One Panel

Airports rely on specialised ground support equipment on both sides of the terminal building. Oak Leasing structures leasing that balances operational efficiency with capital management for airport operators, ground handlers, airlines, MRO providers and service companies — whichever side of the fence the equipment sits on.

Airside equipment

  • Aircraft pushback tractors and towbarless tugs
  • Baggage tractors, belt loaders and container / pallet loaders
  • Ground power units, air start units and pre-conditioned air
  • Passenger boarding bridges and mobile stair units
  • De-icing vehicles, fuel bowsers and hydrant dispensers
  • Ramp, apron and water / lavatory service vehicles

Landside equipment

  • Terminal cleaning machines and maintenance lifts
  • Catering high-loaders and service trucks
  • Baggage handling system components and conveyor upgrades
  • Security screening, scanners and access control
  • Kiosks, flight information displays and terminal IT
  • Hangar equipment, docking and access platforms

Tugs, Tractors & Towbarless Pushback

Financing the Fleet That Moves the Airport

Aircraft tugs and baggage tractors are the most heavily used assets on any apron — running across every shift, in every weather, against turnaround times measured in minutes. When a fleet ages, the cost shows up as breakdowns, missed slots and rising maintenance bills, long before the equipment is fully written down.

Oak Leasing funds conventional towbar tractors, towbarless pushback tugs for narrow- and wide-body aircraft, remote-controlled electric tugs for hangar and stand moves, and full baggage and cargo tractor fleets. Because well-maintained GSE holds its value over a long working life, funders on our panel can structure terms that match how long the equipment really earns — with residual values and end-of-term options set to suit the operator, not a generic schedule.

  • New, nearly-new and refurbished tug and tractor fleets
  • Diesel-to-electric conversion programmes, including chargers
  • Mixed fleets across multiple airports on one agreement
  • Seasonal and short-term structures for peak-demand periods
  • Sale and leaseback to release equity in fleets already owned

For GSE Rental & Leasing Companies

Financing the Lease Book, Not Just the Equipment

Many GSE rental and leasing companies don't just supply equipment — they lease it directly to airports and airlines, building a rental book of long-term receivables against their own balance sheet.

The Problem

A Rental Book Is a Heavy Drag

Every lease written to an airport or airline is a receivable sitting on the rental company's own balance sheet — cash tied up for years against contracts that may run five, seven or ten years. Growth in the rental book means growth in gearing, not growth in free cash, which constrains new business at exactly the point demand is strongest.

  • Long-dated airport and airline leases lock up capital for years
  • A growing book increases gearing without releasing cash
  • New business capacity is constrained by the book already written
The Solution

Receivables Finance Releases It

Oak Leasing arranges receivables and lease portfolio finance that releases the capital tied up in an existing rental book — whether that's discounting a portfolio of airport and airline leases, forward-flow funding for a vendor programme, or a structure that takes the receivables off the immediate balance sheet.

  • Discounting or sale of existing lease receivables
  • Forward-flow funding for ongoing vendor and rental programmes
  • Structures assessed for off-balance-sheet treatment where appropriate

Balance sheet and accounting treatment for receivables finance is transaction- and structure-specific. Oak Leasing provides structure recommendations only; obtain independent accounting advice before committing to a structure.

Managing the Transition

Managing the Transition to Greener GSE

Aviation faces mounting pressure to cut emissions. Airports are moving to electric and hybrid fleets, which means substantial investment before the return is proven — leasing provides the financial bridge.

Electric & Hybrid Fleets

Electric tugs, lithium-ion baggage tractors and hybrid ramp vehicles financed without full capital exposure.

Charging & Power Infrastructure

Charging systems, solar arrays and energy-efficient ground power units, financed alongside the fleet they support.

Upgrade Without Stranding

Upgrade and replacement options let operators keep improving environmental performance without stranded-asset risk.

Hangar, MRO & Line Maintenance

Equipment That Keeps Aircraft Flying

Every hour an aircraft spends on the ground for maintenance costs its operator money, so MRO and line maintenance providers need the right access equipment in the right place — on every shift, at every station they serve. Wide-body docking systems, engine stands and specialist tooling are capital-intensive, and the work often arrives faster than budgets can be approved.

Oak Leasing funds maintenance stands and tail docks, aircraft access platforms, engine and component stands, nitrogen and hydraulic ground carts, hangar cranes and the tooling that goes with them. For providers working across several airports, the whole programme can be funded under one structure, so new station openings and airline contract wins are equipped without waiting on capital expenditure cycles.

  • Docking systems, access platforms and work stands
  • Engine, landing-gear and component handling equipment
  • Ground carts, test equipment and specialist tooling
  • Multi-station rollouts funded as one programme

Vendor Financing

For GSE Manufacturers and Dealers

Point-of-sale finance turns a capital purchase into a monthly cost your customer can approve — airport authorities, airlines, cargo handlers and maintenance firms alike.

Point-of-Sale Finance

Vendor leasing programmes for GSE suppliers, resellers and manufacturers that drive sales and give customers cash-flow certainty.

Rapid, Consistent Approvals

Fast credit decisions across the UK and Europe, with lease rates aligned to equipment lifecycle and flexible residual and end-of-term options.

Cross-Border Delivery

Multilingual, cross-border leasing for multinational operators — managing tax, VAT and asset registration across jurisdictions.

Administration Handled

Documentation and administration handled by Oak Leasing throughout, so your sales team sells equipment, not paperwork.

"Oak Leasing provided TBD with the total finance solution for our customer, and completed the documentation with a very tight time schedule."

Lifecycle & Resilience

Beyond the Payment Schedule

A lease is part of a wider asset lifecycle strategy. Unexpected downtime creates ripple effects — delays, missed connections and regulatory penalties.

Lifecycle Management

  • Refresh cycles timed ahead of maintenance cost overruns
  • End-of-lease buy-outs, renewals or equipment swaps
  • Continuous upgrade pathways without capital shocks

Operational Resilience

  • Modern, well-maintained GSE reduces downtime risk
  • Maintenance and service built into some structures
  • OEM-backed support for predictable budgets

Scaling Fast

  • Accelerated approvals for new contracts
  • Seasonal leasing for peak-demand periods
  • Capacity to scale with airline expansion

Stand & Gate Infrastructure

Funding the Turnaround, Gate to Gate

The turnaround is where an airport earns or loses its reputation. Once an aircraft is on stand, the boarding bridge, ground power, pre-conditioned air, baggage loading and catering all have to work together in a tight window — and a single failed asset can delay a departure and every rotation behind it.

Oak Leasing funds the equipment around the aircraft as well as the vehicles that serve it: passenger boarding bridges and bridge-mounted 400Hz power and PCA units, visual docking guidance, mobile stairs and ambulifts, and the stand-side systems that cut auxiliary power unit use and emissions. Larger gate and stand programmes can be phased over several years, with funding drawn as each stage is delivered.

  • Boarding bridges, 400Hz GPU and pre-conditioned air
  • Mobile stairs, ambulifts and PRM equipment
  • Stand guidance and apron infrastructure upgrades
  • Phased gate programmes funded as each stage completes
